Odd request

Hat
I'm taking my Atlanta trip in about a month, and I would like to make a request of all of you gadget geeks...

Does anybody have a GPS they could loan me? I'll paypal shipping costs and mailing insurance. I will care for it as though it were my own baby and will pay for replacements or repairs should something happen to it.

I just would really like to play with one while I'm navigating a somewhat unfamiliar city on my own. Preferably the type of GPS that can be hooked up to a car dash somehow and/or one that displays road maps.

Anybody able to help me out?

I just loaned my parents a Garmin C320 for their move to Missouri. They should be done with it in about a week or so. There's a slight (20%) chance that they'll want to keep it and try to work a deal with me, but if they don't I can have them ship it down to you instead of back to me. How soon would you need it for it to still be of use?

Additionally, I have an older Streetpilot III that I could send, but it's a bit of a beast...

I'd be cool with most anything. I'm hitting the road on... um... September 1st, so there's plenty of time. I'm very good about not doing last minute planning ;)

Alas, I'll be needing mine for my six-state adventure, from which I'll be flying to DC directly. Word of warning, though, based on my last use of GPS in Atlanta: it does well until you get downtown. In the downtown canyons, coverage completely dies and you're largely back on your own. They're not very good for actual downtown navigation.

You can have mine for the trip back? ;-)

Sent a few updates to your gmail addy. It's on its way, should be there Monday, via FedEx. Tracking info is in the gmail. Let me know if everything arrives ok, please? :)

Just curious -- had any time to think about artwork stuff for the GPS loan? :)

Yepyep! I'm attempting my hand at pixel pushing again and trying to make a moodicon set.
